Keskustelua varusteiden mitoista ja maalimääristä!!
Kaivoin Gary Bettmanin lausunnon asiasta jostain netin syövereistä. Tässä hänen ajatuksiaan:
If NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has his way, the league's goaltending equipment will continue to shrink.
In his annual state-of-the-union address prior to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final on Saturday, Bettman said he expects greater progress will be made now that the NHL Players' Association in-house problems have been remedied and they're ready to talk about making major equipment alterations.
With scoring slightly down again this season -- though it's actually up in the playoffs -- Bettman said a new committee will restart the effort to make goalies' pads smaller, and left no doubt where he stands on the issue.
"All goaltenders should be on equal footing," he said, noting goalies are bigger both physically and with the equipment they wear. "I wouldn't mind if there was a little more open space to shoot at."
Bettman said he's looking forward to the work of the new committee struck to examine (read downsize) goaltending equipment. The committee, to include both skaters and goalies, will meet June 11 in Toronto and is expected to forward recommendations to the NHL Competition Committee in time for their meeting in Toronto two days later.
Bettman made it clear that providing more opportunity for shooters is the objective. The idea to have a group examine the issue came about at the general managers' meetings in February, where there was unanimous consent to do something about the size of the equipment. (A complete list of the intended changes was published in the Goalie News, V3E3).
"This is going to be the best attempt that can be made to deal with goaltender equipment," Bettman said.
